Common Questions

Kilimanjaro FAQs

Do I need prior climbing experience to summit Kilimanjaro?+
No technical climbing experience is needed. Kilimanjaro is a trekking peak — no ropes or harnesses required. Good physical fitness and mental determination are what matter most.
When is the best time to climb Kilimanjaro?+
The best months are January–March and June–October, which are the drier seasons. July–September offer the best summit success rates and clearest views.
What is altitude sickness and how do you manage it?+
AMS is caused by reduced oxygen at high elevation. Our guides conduct daily pulse oximeter checks, follow "climb high, sleep low" principles, and carry emergency oxygen. We always prioritise your safety over the summit.
What should I pack for a Kilimanjaro climb?+
Key items: thermal base layers, warm down jacket, waterproof outer layers, hiking boots, trekking poles, sleeping bag (−10°C or lower), sun protection. We send a full gear list on booking. Rental packages available in Moshi.
Can I combine Kilimanjaro with a safari or Zanzibar?+
Absolutely! We specialise in combination packages — climb Kilimanjaro, then head out on a Serengeti safari before relaxing on Zanzibar's beaches. Many climbers add 3–7 days of safari and beach after their summit.
